GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP/CBS4) – A week after starting its coaching search to replace Will Muschamp, Florida is already shooting down reports the job has been offered to Colorado State University’s Jim McElwain.
The Gators released a statement Monday refuting reports that athletic director Jeremy Foley has offered the job to anyone.
SB Nation reported Sunday that Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze was mulling an offer to become Florida’s next coach. Yahoo.com reported Sunday that McElwain was a leading candidate for the job. And then FootballScoop.com reported Monday that the Gators are vetting former Denver Broncos head coach and current New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for the job.

Florida’s athletic association says, “We will have no comment on the recent multiple reports other than to say that we have made no job offer to anyone and reports claiming that are false.”
